FAQ
Scannable answers for busy people. Chat on this site for more, or:
- Are you taking new patients?
Yes — telehealth in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri.
- New patients book a full video evaluation (~90–100 minutes).
- First visit is a consultation; ongoing relationship begins after a second visit.
- Use chat for questions, then book online when ready.
- What days do you see clients?
Schedule
Monday – Thursday
- Do you do ERP for OCD?
Dr. Brown does not provide ERP himself. He often works with people who have already done ERP or understand the ideas and still feel stuck — combining medication, dynamic therapy, and lifestyle support. He collaborates with ERP therapists. He is listed in the International OCD Foundation directory as a medication prescriber.
- I already did ERP / CBT. Can you still help?
Yes — that is a common reason people reach out. When skills make sense but symptoms, sleep, mood, focus, or daily follow-through still get in the way, a psychiatrist who also does therapy can help.
- Where else can I find your profile?
Dr. Brown is listed in the International OCD Foundation directory, and on Psychology Today for Illinois and Kansas. Links are on the About and OCD pages of this site.
- Do you prescribe medications and do psychotherapy?
Yes. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Brown prescribes and manages medications and also offers ongoing dynamic talk therapy when that is a good fit.
- Do you accept insurance?
Out-of-network for all plans. HSA/FSA debit cards are welcome.
- Payment is collected at the visit.
- You receive a receipt / superbill to submit to a PPO yourself.
- Dr. Brown does not bill insurance companies directly.
- Contact your insurer for your out-of-network rate.
